Hot. Unbearably Hot.

We have already reached the days of "It's so hot I don't even want to go outside." I'm thinking that I might need a bigger pool. There is only about another 180 days of this unbelievable heat before we get to start thinking about winter. It's too early for that now, huh??

Shane's Birthday

Yesterday was Shane's birthday. 17 years old. I can't believe it! I don't believe it. Hold on, let me go look at his birth certificate. Yup, it was 17 years ago. WOW! Where has the time gone?
We all love Sha-Sha. Shaneo. Smoocheyhead.

Over one month

Seems this month, making just one post was very difficult. So I will do a quick summary of the past month.

1 - I took the kids strawberry picking. Adyson had a fabulous time and filled her basket in like 10 minutes flat. Riley does not like to get his hands dirty and picked about 13 strawberries.

2 - Shane now works at Dariy Queen and has learned that when you work over 16 hours per week, you get paid more. So, I think he likes it.

3 - I am a certified aerobics instructor!! Woo-Hoo!! Who wants to take a STEP class??

4 - We are doing fabulous on potty training. Well, I might even go so far as to say we are trained, because accidents are inevitable. We still - and I think will always - carry our potty in the back of the car.

5 - Schools out. Pros & cons there. Do you have any idea how much a 17 year old boy eats when he is home all day? And he does not make the healthiest of choices. Anyway, good & bad-I'm neutral on it and at this point don't think I would oppose year round schooling. Well, maybe just a month off-not the whole summer.

6 - Oh--Scott's birthday. The big FOUR - O is old news to him now.

7 - Mother's Day. I am Mom to three of the best kids in the world. Love my munchkins!!

8 - I am now certified in CPR.

9 - Shane got his first IRS tax refund check. He is saving for a new car. He wants a Mustang real bad. Apparently they are all the rage.

10-Took the kids to the Cahaba Lily River for a day of fun - and yes, all I thought about the entire time was snakes, but we did not run across any. Lucky for them becuase I would have screamed and ran to the car & bolted and been home for a few hours before I realized I had abandoned my kids. Very bad - I know, but it would have been a peacful ride home.

11-Memorial Day has come & gone. There is no better combination in the world than Bar-B-Que and beer. Well, maybe peanut butter & chocolate. Ice cream & sprinkles. bubbles & baths. Well, you get the point.

12-Max got sick. Nothing to report about, it just never happens. My puppy is healthy as an ox. (is that the right saying??) Anyway, I think he lost like 5 pounds-and you all know he can't afford it!!

13 - This weekend we are finalizing vacation plans. No, I mean it. We've been throwing things around for a month now. So much to do, and shane has a bag of Doritos waiting at my brothers house.

14 - Riley loves spiderman & superman. Adyson loves her Mommy and her puppy. Some things just never change.

15 - MNO-was another great one. We had a scavenger hunt. I have come to learn that I am too old for a scavenger hunt. No, I take that back, I am too old for a hand-stand. Gave me quite the headache.

16 - Dave had about 6 days off this month. A few of you may realize just how HUGE that is. I don't think he has had 6 days off in the past 12 months combined. It really is all good, but the same thing applies here as did in #5. Not a healthy choice EVER.

17 - Qucikly here with some random facts: This is the first time in my life that I have not worried about painting my fingernails. I have ALWAYS had a manicure. Now, I find that they just don't stay as nice as long as they used to and it's almost not worth it. I wish it were. I Love tomatos. I eat about one per day. I just found a casserole recipe in southern living and ate about the whole thing last night. It was FABULOUS. I hate onions. The only thing on my i-pod is the Bodystep release I have to learn (which I should be doing right now). Finally-the last time i talked to my sister was--well, i can't remember, lets just say around our birthdays (in january) and i think i'll call her today.

I could go on about the random facts, but really - I had a hard enough time recalling the past month.

Mom's Night Out

Here are some very quick highlights of my most recent MNO.

1 - a stunning painting that is similar to dare I say a Picasso.

2 - i really don't need to carry a backpack anymore-I just can't seem to let it go and it is good for some laughs.

3 - a wonderful group of women who when I really take a moment to socialize (read: childless) I realize just how much I enjoy their company.

4 - sugar coated chick-peas rival peanut M&M's!!!!

5 - And finally--after what we are calling our shots of "water"--it is not a good idea to color your hair. ever. period. doesn't matter how many washes it comes out with. doesn't matter what you use to wash it. it's just not smart. ever. no one will fess up over who's idea it was, and that may be because none of us really remember.

It's going down in the books for sure.

If anyone can find the books.

Dave K.

Today is Dave's birthday. Nothing extravagant happening here. He gets to choose the restaurant for dinner, and we all have to be nice to him all day. Usually no big deal, but then usually he is at work. Today he decided to take off. HHHmmmmm.

So, in honor of Dave's birthday I thought I might list a few things I love about him. I'm not overlooking the obvious, he's, I believe, the greatest dad in the world-just going a differnet route.

1 - He's got this accent that still-when I hear it --just melts me.

2 - He has a dimple. That's so cute.

3 - He's got great legs & a nice tooshie.

4 - He's easy to please.

5 - Along that same line, He likes my cooking.

6 - He's funny. Everyday he makes me laugh. I Love that.

7 - He has good feet. (This has not always been the case--and is truly appreciated!)

I love dave.

Easter

The easter bunny left a bunch of eggs in our front yard while the kids were napping. He wasnt even going to stop, it was so cold.
So, I say, "Quick-go get some eggs & come back inside for hot chocolate."

Poor Max

That little Adyson just loves her puppy to death.

Poor thing. What a good dog to put up with all her "loving". He deserves much more than a treat--much much more.

Quit Smoking

Hi Guys

This message goes out to my sisters Lori and Donna. Today is March 3, 2008. I have quit smoking as of today. I got a prescription from the doctor that started a week ago today, which you actually smoke the first week with it and then you take it for the next 3 weeks or longer if need be. I am very suprised at how I have felt in the past week taking the pill and still smoking. I have actually cut down before today. I only had a couple of cravings today for a short period of time, but I put myself in the worst case scenario when trying to quit smoking. I went to the bar for a couple of cocktails earlier and then had a bbq at the house with a couple of friends. I figured drinking and smoking go hand and hand, but I made it thru the first day, now its all down hill. I will keep everyone informed at how I do. The one thing that you can make certain is that I will not become a preacher(Joey) reformed smoker, just because I was able to quit smoking. Love you all, will keep everyone updated

diva?

No, she's not a Diva, she just likes new clothes, particularly new shoes. I don't know WHERE she gets that from. But these little red shoes she wore for three days straight, dancing around the house. I had to bribe her to get them off so she could take a bath, and you better believe they were right back on before she was done toweling off.
She even got a little thrill at the bowling alley with the new shoes, and they were UGLY.
It's a lifelong obsession....I hope she gets a really big closet.

Adyson's Birthday

Oh...my little baby girl, already two years old. She had a great time with her new doll house, wagon & her "Elmo's World" cake. She had a little tiara and did not like it at all--but Riley sure did. I'm saving those photos for blackmail later in life.

Sucha little darling girl--I can't believe she is only two years old!

My little princess.
